The Year 10 Sample Lessons are provided as an example of what you will find in this course, they do not represent the complete curriculum covered.
Students using the My Homeschool Year 10 Curriculum are usually around 15 or 16 years old. The schedule has been designed to be taught over 4 or 5 days so families have time to pursue individual interests and natural learning.
Additional instructions for parents, including a Weekly Planner that both parents and students can use, are provided when you purchase the graded course. A comprehensive Resource List is also provided, making it easy for you to prepare for the semester ahead. Many of our resources are in a PDF format that can be downloaded, printed and read offline but also offer Complementary Links that families may wish to use to further enhance the lessons.

There is a Novel Study Guide provided for each term, so you will study four novels over Year Ten. In Term One the novel to be studied is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.

Throughout Semester One one focus of English is on developing and analysing the skill of rhetoric and identifying opinion within the written and spoken word. Drawing on a range of texts, this presents many authors and their skills to teenagers, highlighting how they can incorporate these techniques into their own toolkit.

In Semester One we are taking a look at the life of The Bard, his creative genius, we highlight some of his most popular plays and scenes, and learn about the famous Globe Theatre too.
Semester Two includes the study of one of Shakespeare's Tragedies.

Students explore some key concepts of modern science during Semester Two, including examining the scientists behind these breakthroughs and examining how these contributions have continued to shape our understanding and knowledge of our world and the field of science.

Year 10 also includes The Science Hub: A collection of resources to extend your science studies. Includes educational videos, options for science experiments, and examines aspects of thinking and working scientifically, including current affairs in the field of science.
