Maths
- Own Choice Maths Curriculum
My Homeschool don’t provide a mathematics program from Year 3 onwards. We know that parents want to pick a program that suits their child’s ability and is also easy and affordable for parents to teach. There are many maths programs around recommended for home educators and whilst we haven’t used them all in our own homeschools, but we have used quite a few. Here are the main three recommended programs we suggest:
- Maths Online (we give you a 50 % discount)
- Pr1me Maths (we give you a 10%)
- Singapore Maths
History, Geography & Civics
A chronological approach to history is taught from Year 2 to 6. In Year Four we study Late Middle Ages up to the Industrial Revolution. My child will make a timeline folder—from William the Conqueror to WWI—to help them remember the people they have studied. Literature from these times is also studied.
These geography lessons give an overview of the continents. They examine maps and explore the world’s cultural and climatic diversity. They learn mapping skills and familiarise themselves with an atlas.
Governance is discussed as different models are presented through history including: The Magna Carta, citizenship, monarchies and dictatorships.
Term 4 includes a particular emphasis on Australian rules and laws.
