At My Homeschool you can choose your own mathematics program from Year 3.
There is no one-size-fits-all curriculum so some decisions have been left up to you so you can tailor this program to best suit your family and your individual students, including giving you the opportunity to choose the core maths program that best suits your family. There are a number of mathematics programs that can be used successfully for primary students. Our three favourite textbooks for the are:
- Singapore Maths
- Prime Maths
- Maths Online for high school
My Homeschool members also have access to our 50% discount on Maths Online membership. This can save you $150 per year for a family membership.
We give you more information on choosing your core maths curriculum and some recommendations in our course introductions after purchase.
A good maths program is slow and steady, using a careful progression to unfold ideas and concepts gradually and allowing time for mastery. A good maths program will also teach mathematical terms to increase your child’s maths vocabulary and include opportunities to review concepts and skills taught. Encourage your child to work with accuracy and neatness and to use manipulatives that you have on hand.
You can supplement your math textbooks with math games, cooking and activities which include measuring and money counting.
To determine how much of your maths program to complete each week, simply divide the topics into four terms to determine the amount of work to be completed in each week of term. Expect to spend no more than 30 minutes each day on maths.
Please note we get no financial incentives in recommending these programs. We chose them because we know they have worked for us and many other home educators
