English
This is our main English resource. Literature lessons cover, picture study, poetry, a variety of writing texts and styles. Spelling (prefixes and suffixes), sentence level grammar and punctuation are taught using sentences and proof reading. Short dictation
lessons are used for spelling practice. For the first two terms we work on developing meaningful and structured paragraphs.
Comprehension lessons are done using narration and discussion from stories, science and history readers. Children are encouraged to explain what they are seeing as writing preparation.
- Novel: Historical Fiction or Classic Readers (We'll give you some choices).
Science and Geography
Week 1 - Carved by Nature & Earth Science Links Year 5 - Lesson 1
Throughout the year we also cover Chemistry, Physics and Biology topics. We also include a Nature Study resource.
In Term 3 & 4 we include another geography resource on Managing Extreme Weather.
Maths
- Own Choice Maths Curriculum
My Homeschool don’t provide a mathematics program from Year 3 onwards. We know that parents want to pick a program that suits their child’s ability and is also easy and affordable for parents to teach. There are many maths programs around recommended
for home educators and whilst we haven’t used them all in our own homeschools, but we have used quite a few. Here are the main three recommended programs we suggest:

History, Economics & Civics
Week 1 - Australian History: Our Sunburnt Country - Chapter 1 (Terms 1 & 2)
Week 1 - Book of Centuries: Enter history dates.
Week 1 - Australian History Notebook: Write a summary or narration about what you learnt reading chapter 1 of Our Sunburnt country.
World History is covered for Terms 3 & 4. We provide a New Zealand history resource and give suggestions for other countries). Civics is covered in Term 3.

Primary Art Lessons - A collection of video art courses for you to enjoy. It can be used across the grades.

Art Appreciation - A selection of famous artworks and classic masterpieces.
Foreign Language Study: Whilst we do cover Indigenous Languages this term in a very simple way, if you wish to learn another language you will need a separate resource.
