1. Your Weekly Planner

This is a sample of our online weekly planner. It is also available in a printable (PDF) version that you can download.

This weekly schedule has a four–day academic load with the fifth day scheduled for other activities. It is possible to squish lessons into three days if necessary but you may find your child doesn’t have the stamina for that on a regular basis. You’ll be the best judge of that.

See our Kindergarten - Week 1 Schedule as an example of how you could schedule your week.

This My Homeschool  Kindergarten Course is meant to be flexible and you can mix up the activities over the week to suit your own schedule.

Our planner is divided into sections to make it easier to organise your lessons.

1.1. Family Time and Read Alouds

Family Time (also called Circle Time or Morning Time) is time together with all family members.  It is a time to encourage truth, beauty and goodness into your day and your homeschool culture. It will likely become a most treasured part of your day. We suggest including your own choice Scripture and family devotional in this time, along with Art and Music appreciation, read aloud novels and picture books and poetry.

Music Appreciation Course: Please choose one of the My Homeschool Music Appreciation courses to use with your student. There are many to choose from within the My Homeschool Learning Platform. Introducing Music Through Stories is the ideal Music Appreciation course to begin with. This is taught weekly all year.

Art Appreciation: Please select from the many Art Appreciation courses provided by My Homeschool. There are many to choose from within the My Homeschool Learning Platform. Look Closer – A Simple Start to Art Appreciation has been specifically developed for younger learners. This is taught weekly all year.

When planning this section you may have to select what works best for your family if you are teaching a range of children from Kindergarten through to Year 6.

1.2. Kindergarten Subjects To Complete

These are activities specific to Foundation Year and shouldn’t be changed. You will need to help your child with these lessons. The Picture Book Links can be watched online.

Maths and English are taught 4 days a week. Science is taught once a week and Nature Study adds an extra Science-focused lesson each week. Each week a Humanities and Social Science lesson is taught: History for two terms and Geography for the other two.

1.3. Notebooking Activities & Extensions

This section will usually involve you writing your child’s narration and them adding pictures to go with it. Guidance is included in the relevant PDFs to assist you. These Notebooking Activities are related to Science or Humanities and Social Science.
